Scholarships through the Educational Foundation

Please note that all scholarships listed are not necessarily available for awarding each academic year. This list includes those which have been awarded or will be awarded in the Foundation in recent years as well as one time awards. During the application submission period in the spring, those active/available scholarships will be available for you to view. Click 'Select All' button at the top or bottom of list to view all scholarships or check scholarships you'd like to view and click 'Submit Selections' at bottom. You can also view individual scholarships by clicking a link at the right of a checkbox.

Our current application does not require you to choose a scholarship for which to apply. You only need to complete one application for submission during the open period. This list is only for informational purposes and promotes awareness for those interested in our scholarship programs.

Ann J. Sam Scholarship in Nursing

This scholarship was established in 2010 with a gift from David and Linda Sam in memory of his mother, Ann J. Sam.

Anna Ruth Inskeep Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in memory of Mrs. Inskeep as part of the Virginia Power Director’s Charitable Contribution Program. Mrs. Inkseep was a well known figure in the Culpeper community and was the first woman to serve on the Culpeper Board of Supervisors.

Atlantic Builders Scholarship

The Atlantic Builders Scholarship established in 2010 will provide financial assistance awards to qualified students enrolled in credit courses at GCC.

Bertha M. Seay Massey Scholarship for Nursing Education

Mrs. Massey’s family established this scholarship. Mrs. Massey was born in Caroline County and was a medical assistant. She touched many lives during her career and in her personal life as a volunteer at her church.

Byrd L. Daniel, Jr. Scholarship

Joseph and Ronnie Daniel established this scholarship in 1988 in memory of their father.

Captain William C. Carpenter Scholarship

In March of 2007, the Captain William C. Carpenter endowment was established with a gift from Ted and Jackie Hontz to honor Captain Carpenter. Joe Daniel created the scholarship in memory of this founding Educational Foundation Board member who served from 1985 until his death in 2006. Mr. Carpenter was given Emeritus standing in November 2004.

Caroline County Agricultural Fair Scholarship

This scholarship was established by the Caroline County Agricultural Fair Advisory Board. This scholarship will aid a student whom is a resident from Caroline County who is enrolled or enrolling at Germanna Community College

Charles H. Huffman Memorial Scholarship

The Memorial Foundation of the Germanna colonies in Virginia, Inc. established this scholarship to recognize Dr. Huffman, the original president of the organization. The organization donated the 100 acre tract on which the Locust Grove Campus of Germanna Community College was constructed.

Commonwealth Legacy Scholarship

This scholarship is provided by the Virginia Commonwealth College System. This scholarship is designed to aid a student who would like to become an ambassador for the college. This student in exchange for the scholarship, will attend a Commonwealth Legacy Scholar Luncheon in Richmond; become involved in Student Services at the college; and continue to be a strong link between the college and the students.

Culpeper Regional Hospital Scholarship in Nursing

This fund was established in 2011 by the Culpeper Regional Hospital Foundation.

Culpeper Wood Preservers Scholarship

The employees and Board of Directors of Culpeper Wood Preservers established this scholarship in 1988.

Dale Featherston Scholarship

This scholarship is was created to honor Ms. Dale Featherston, a long time Director of Nursing at Germanna Community College, upon her retirement from the College.

Dulcie H. Potter Endowed Scholarship

This endowed scholarship was established in 2001 to serve as a perpetual tribute to Dulcie H. Potter and the life she devoted to her family and community.

Duval Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship was established in 2006. The Duval Scholarship funds shall be utilized for scholarships for qualified students at Germanna Community College.

Follett Scholarship for Textbooks

The Follett Corporation was founded in 1873 as a small bookstore in Illinois. The company has grown into the largest educational bookseller in America and has provided textbook and bookstore services to Germanna Community College for many years.

Fredericksburg Ambulatory (FASC) Nursing Scholarship

The Fredericksburg Ambulatory Surgery Center established this scholarship in 1990.

Freta B. Napier Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Judy and Mike Napier in memory of Mike’s mother, Freta B. Napier. Mrs. Napier was a strong advocate for education.

George P. Beard, Jr. Endowment Fund for Nursing Education

This scholarship honors former Delegate George Beard, a past president of Second Bank and Trust and a long-time member of the Virginia General Assembly.

Gertrude Yowell Hudson Yates Scholarship

Her children established this scholarship as a loving tribute to their mother on her birthday. It is in recognition of her hard work and dedication to the Culpeper community.

Giles H. Miller, Jr. Scholarship

Established in 1990, this scholarship honors Mr. Miller, an outstanding Culpeper citizen.

Henry and Iva Smith Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of Henry and Iva Smith by their children and grandchildren. Mr. Smith had a long and successful banking career in Madison and Mrs. Smith was an educator in Madison County public schools for 40 years.

Isabel Williams LPN Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2013 by Mr. Herbert G. Williams, friends and family of Mrs. Isabel Williams.

J. Carlton "Zeus" Clore Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor Mr. J. Carlton “Zeus” Clore, a leading citizen of Culpeper County.

Janet B. Swan Scholarship

This scholarship was established as a memorial and perpetual tribute to Mrs. Janet B. Swan of Culpeper, Virginia.

Jefferson Homebuilders, Inc. Scholarship

Mr. Joseph R. Daniel and the employees of Jefferson Homebuilders, Inc., established this scholarship in 1987.

John J. "Butch" Davies, III Scholarship

Family friends and community members established this scholarship in 1999 in honor of John J. “Butch” Davies, III, a Culpeper attorney, upon his retirement from the Virginia House of Delegates. Mr. Davies currently serves on the GCC Educational Foundation Board.

John J. "Jack" Condon Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Dianne Condon in memory of her late husband, John J. "Jack" Condon to awarded to a student (s) per the below listed criteria. This scholarship was established in 2009.

June Boldridge Stallings Scholarship in Nursing

This scholarship was established in 2011 by Dr. Sarah Somerville and the family June Boldridge Stallings.

Kristin and Kati Lisk Memorial Scholarship Endowment

This scholarship was established by friends, family, and community members in memory of Kristin and Kati Lisk.

Linda Nelson Memorial Scholarship Linda Nelson Memorial Scholarship

Friends and Family members established this scholarship in memory of Linda Nelson. Mrs. Nelson was a graduate of the Germanna Community College R.N. Program.

Margaret & Tommy Pitts - Richard C. O'Neill Scholarship Fund

This scholarship was established in memory of Margaret and Tommy Pitts, parents of Mary Jane O’Neill and in memory of Richard C. O’Neill, father or Robert C. O’Neill.

Mary Washington Hospital Foundation Nursing Scholarship

Mary Washington Hospital Foundation provides financial assistance for those students in need who are enrolled full-time in a nursing program at Germanna Community College.

Mildred C. King Scholarship Endowment for Nursing

Established by Mr. and Mrs. George King in memory of his mother Mildred C. King.

Nursing and Allied Health Fund

This fund was established in 2012 by Culpeper Regional Hospital.

OMCWF Dental Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2000 with a gift from the Orange, Madison, Culpeper, Warrenton and Faquier Study Club.

OMWCF Dental Scholarship

Local dentists participating in the former Orange-Madison-Culpeper-Warrenton-Fredericksburg Study Group established this scholarship in support of the dental hygiene program at Germanna Community College.

Otis and Mescal Burke Scholarship

The Otis and Mescal Burke Scholarship established in 2009 will provide financial assistance awards to qualified students enrolled in credit courses at GCC.

Pearline T. Soltes Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established by John A. Soltes in loving memory of his wife, Pearline. Mrs. Soltes was a graduate of the former Mary Washington Hospital Training School of Nursing.

Ray and Joyce Zachmann Endowment

The Ray and Joyce Zachmann Scholarship was established by David and Linda Sam in memory of her parents, Ray and Joyce Zachmann, in order to assist those students attending Germanna's Middle College or a student who is enrolled in a Germanna program.

Ray Jernigan Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1990 by Ms. Sue Jernigan of Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Raynold ("Randy") Collier Glazebrook, III Endowed Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Raynold (“Randy”) C. Glazebrook, III by his father, Mr. Raynold C. Glazebrook, Jr. who was a long-serving member of the Germanna Community College Educational Foundation Board.

Reynolds Family of Orange Scholarship Endowment

Brothers Kevin and Tom Reynolds and their late Uncle Roy Reynolds of Reynolds Pontiac Cadillac GMC Buick Subaru, Inc. in Orange established this scholarship to support Orange residents who attend Germanna Community College. Tom Reynolds is a former Chairman of the College Board; Kevin Reynolds has served on the Foundation Board.

Shannon A. Broom Art Scholarship Endowment

This art scholarship was established in 1999 in memory of Shannon A. Broom by her family and friends.

Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2012 by the Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center.

Stella Rhodes Almond Nursing Scholarship

This scholarship was established by Mrs. Marion R. Ferguson, an Alumna of the Mary Washington Hospital School of Nursing, in memory of her sister, Stella Rodes Almond. Mrs. Almond was a teacher in Orange for over 40 years.

Stepping Stone Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 2002 by Mrs. Katherine Archer of Reston, Virginia.

Steve and Nancy Jones Scholarship

Steve and Nancy Jones established this scholarship to enhance the educational opportunities for students at Germanna Community College. Both Steve and Nancy are alumni of Germanna Community College.

Sunshine Lady Foundation Scholarship

Doris Buffett established this scholarship in the summer of 2010 through the Sunshine Lady Foundation, a private family foundation that provides opportunities for the advancement of education for disadvantaged people.

The Mary Frances Willis and James G. Willis Memorial Scholarship

Mrs. Harriett Cole of Fredericksburg established this annual scholarship through the Kiwanis Foundation of Fredericksburg in memory of her daughter, Mary Frances Willis and her late husband, James G. Willis.

The Second Bank & Trust Floyd White Memorial Scholarhip

This scholarship was established in honor and in memory of Mr. Floyd White, past president of Second Bank and Trust.

The Woman's Club of

This scholarship was established in 1990 in memory of Mr. Price, a leading citizen of Madison County.

The Woman's Club of Fredericksburg Endowed Scholarship for Nursing

This scholarship is a tribute to the members of The Woman’s Club of Fredericksburg and to their principles of service and commitment to the betterment of the Greater Fredericksburg Community.

Viola M. Smith Scholarship

This scholarship was established in 1993 by the family of Mrs. Rosemary Jenkins of Culpeper to honor Viola M. Smith on the occasion of her ninetieth birthday. Ms. Smith was a teacher, school principal and life-long advocate of education. Mrs. Jenkins’ husband, Mr. John Jenkins, is a former Chairman of the Germanna Community College Board.

Volkswagen & Germanna Community College: Partners in Education Scholarship

This scholarship was created in partnership with Northern Virginia Community College and the Volkswagen Group of America.

Willis Clyde Locker Memorial Scholarship for History

Willis Clyde Locker was an educator and civic leader. This scholarship was established through an endowed gift from Mrs. Elizabeth G. Schneider and Mr. Robert A. Hodge, retired GCC faculty member, to honor Mr. Locker who was the father of Mrs. Schneider’s close friend, Mrs. Benjamin Alsop.
