Another exciting and challenging year has passed at Germanna Community College. Germanna's ongoing growth continued, with enrollment rising by 10%. While this rate is slower than last year, it still means that we will double in size every 11 years. Our new Stafford Center saw an enrollment of over 1200 students and our commencement ceremony filled the Fredericksburg Expo Center to overflow.
In spite of ongoing cuts in state appropriations, we were able to expand our program offerings by adding an engineering technology program, an early childhood education program, and a LPN to RN Hybrid program. Because the national economy has hurt so many of our neighbors, Germanna will continue to try to meet the workforce and educational needs of those who planned on attending as well as the many whose life circumstances have sent them back to school.
Our Educational Foundation continues to support the college with scholarships, support for programs, financial assistance for students, monies for facilities and for cultural and academic activities and events. Included in the annual report is a summary of its successes.
The Annual Report provides one method of accountability to you, our stakeholders. It also highlights some of the successes and accomplishments of the college, its students, faculty, staff and volunteers over the past year. I hope that you find it as informative and inspiring as I do.
