The Academic Computing Center (ACC), a division of Learning Resources, is composed of staff working together to support the computer needs of faculty, staff, and students at Germanna Community College. Our primary responsibility is to maintain a conducive environment for assisting the student body of Germanna. The ACC is an open lab environment for students to complete course assignments, review computer based tutorials, access and send e-mail along with other academic uses. The ACC assists with the operation of the Testing Center.


The Academic Computing Center is an open lab environment for students to complete course assignments, review computer based tutorials, access and send e-mail, use scanners, and other academic uses. A wide variety of academic programs are available on a network of computers. We are available to assist students, staff, and faculty throughout the college.

Office 2007 Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Access) is available for students use. We also provide support for a wide variety of software used in the classrooms. Some of the other programs available are:

• Internet Explorer
• Blackboard
• Nursing Simulations
• Accounting
• A.D.A.M. Interactive Anatomy
• Much More!

• Students must Sign-In to use the ACC.
• No Children are allowed in the ACC.
• No food or drinks are allowed in the ACC.
• You must provide your own disk for saving your documents.
• DO NOT save files to the hard drive (C: or D:)
• The ACC at the Locust Grove Area campus consists of two rooms; room 204 and room 203 each with 20 computers and a printer.
• The ACC at the Fredericksburg Area campus consists of one rooms; room 220 has 30 computers and a printer.
• The ACC at the Germanna Center for Advanced Technology consists of one room; room 206 has 19 computers and a printer.
• Academic work takes priority over using a computers for any form of non-academic purpose. Please yield the work-station to a user needing to do academic work.
• NO manipulation of Windows Desktop or configurations allowed.
• Students need to have a college library card to check out and use college software not installed on the network.

If you are a staff or faculty member at Germanna Community College the ACC has its forms online that you can save and print or email to the college.

If you plan on emailing forms you must use your Germanna email address, which ends with "gcc.vccs.edu". If you do not receive a confirmation back from your email within three business days please contact the ACC.
