Plan

  • Plan ahead. Look for a major that supports your passion. Consider "Plan B" alternatives.
  • Strive for balance and organization in your education and life. Set goals you can attain.
  • Schedule class times for when you're most ready to learn.
  • Check your GCC email account daily for important communication from instructors and GCC Departments.

Before your first class:

Participate

  • Work hard and take advantage of all GCC offerings. Resources for success
  • Connect with your classmates and your GCC Community on social networks.

  • Participate in class and consider signing up for a study group to boost your knowledge and meet new people.
  • Take notes during class. Print out your instructors' Powerpoint presentations from Blackboard.
  • Ask questions during or after class. Instructors want to make sure you understand the material.
  • Stay the entire class period. This is especially important for lab classes.
  • Communicate with your instructor if you miss class so you can review material prior to the next class.
