ASE-Certified
 
The Automotive Technology Program provides classroom instruction and laboratory (hands-on) experience for the following Career Studies Certificates: 

Tech Certification

The Automotive Technician certificate includes training in the ASE areas of engine repair, suspension & steering, brakes, and electrical systems. 
24 credits

Diagnostic Certification

The Automotive Diagnostician certificate includes training in the ASE areas of automotive transmission, manual drive train, climate control, and entire performance.
26 credits
 

Admissions:
Green Light
High school students interested in becoming technicians in the automotive field are encouraged to enroll. Currently enrolled high school students need to see their high school counselor for information before registering for the program.
 
Credits:    High school students receive high school land College credits.
Adult students receive College credit toward the applicable Career Studies Certificate.

Step-by-Step Procedures for Registering for the Auto Tech Program

1. Submit an "Application for Admission" to Germanna Community College.
2. Take Placement Test through Counseling office. Call for an appointment.
Placement scores in English must be 61 or higher, Math must be 37 or higher. If scores are lower, developmental English and Math classes will be required.
3. Attend "New Student Workshop" through Counseling office.
4. Complete a registration form for the classes you will be attending.

5. Register for class through Admission and Records office.

6. Pay tuition through Cashier's office.
