High School Students and GCC's Dual Enrollment Program Dual Enrollment is a unique enrichment program in which high school students are given the opportunity to take college courses in their own school through Germanna Community College's program. Students complete their high school requirements for graduation, while also earning college credits.
What are the advantages to taking dual enrolled courses?
What courses are offered as dual enrollment credits? The community college and the high school determine classes that are offered each semester as dual-enrollment courses. Typically, the dual-enrollment classes offered would be courses taken during a student's first year of college. Dual Enrollment courses are listed in the High School Program of Studies Book that come out each spring. Also see Offerings on the link on the right for a general idea of DE course offerings.
What are the steps a student must take to enroll in a dual enrollment class at their high school?
College Transcripts Students must submit a Transcript Request form to GCC's Admissions and Records office to request that a copy of their GCC college transcript be sent to other colleges and universities from the GCC Office of Admissions and records once coursework is complete. Students can also view unofficial transcripts through the GCC college website at http://www.germanna.edu/myGCC/ . Students should first view instructions myGCC. Attention Students-GCC grades are not mailed. Dual Enrollment students should log on to myGCC to access their Germanna DE grades. Students should also review Germanna's Catalog/Student Handbook to see how their DE course applies to GCC's Program of Studies. Students can also visit Germanna's Transfer Information Website to see how the courses might apply to other college's programs.
