January 14, 2010 -- UVA - GCC Joint Engineering program presentation and reception. Come join the Dean of the UVA College of Engineering and GCC Vice President for a reception and presentation on this cooperative effort. Put this on your calendar for the evening of January 14th from 5-8 PM. A reception will be held from 5-6 PM and a presentation will run from 6 - 7:30 PM. All are welcome to attend. GCC / UVa Engineering Reception For those that could not attend here is the GCC Presentation December 2009 - The Southern Association of Schools and Colleges (SACS) has fully accredited the GCC Engineering Program. November 6, 2009 -- The Curriculum Committee approved significant changes to the Engineering Curriculum today. Chemistry 112 has been deleted and replaced with EGR 110-- Engineering Graphics. EGR 120, Introduction to Engineering, will now be a 2-credit class with a lecture and lab. Engineering Department Overview Briefing This power point presentation presents an overview of the three Engineering Department programs of study. Associate of Science in Engineering Career Studies Certificates - Engineering Technology (Civil/ Architectural Engineering Technician) - Industrial Maintenance Technician Engineers Produced in Virginia This is a cooperative program with the University of Virginia where students can remain in their home area and complete a four year Bachelors degree in Engineering Science. The first two years are completed at the local community college (GCC) and the final two years through UVA. The classes utilize a distributed learning environment where students use tablet laptops and voice over IP technology to study and attend class from any location with a high speed internet connection.
