FINE ARTS
The program of Fine Arts at Germanna Community College is designed to develop the basic knowledge & skills essential to a career in the arts, while also serving the needs of individuals seeking personal enrichment & enhancement of creative abilities. Coursework includes a thorough exploration of 2 dimensional concepts, mediums, tools & applications necessary to the creation of quality artwork. The study of historical & contemporary art issues & theory equips the student with the ability to communicate effectively in the language of art & to investigate meaningful concepts of self-expression. Upon completion of the program, graduates will have prepared an artist’s statement, resume & a portfolio of visuals beneficial for presentation to potential employers, bachelor’s programs, gallery representation or other professional art opportunities. Occupational Objectives: Employment opportunities include positions in museum or gallery settings, studio assistantship or other entry-level careers that require a creative mind. Certain career paths may require further education.
