The course content in PNE 162 is built upon Germanna Community College Nursing Program's conceptual framework. PNE162 is the study and application of cognitive, psychomotor, affective, and interpersonal techniques organized through the nursing process to assist individuals in meeting needs related to human functions. The course explores the curricular threads of health, nursing, wellness, and the nursing process and relates these to the individual across the lifespan. Students will apply these principles in the demonstration of progressing skills for meeting the multidimensional needs of individuals. Issues related to the health care environment and cultural influences will also be explored. Principles of pharmacologic management and math computational skills are demonstrated as they relate to the delivery of nursing care. The student will explore the Internet, basic computer skills, therapeutic communication, and assessment skills to identify the need for critical thinking. This course builds upon knowledge acquired in prerequisite courses and serves as a building block for future nursing courses.
