FINANCIAL AID
Your Financial Aid Award Letter and MyGCC lists the dollar amounts that you will receive if you are a full-time student. The dollar amounts for most financial aid awards are adjusted each semester depending on the number of credits in which you enroll. Approximately three weeks after the end of the add/drop period for the main session of the semester, the Financial Aid Office disburses aid to the Business Office. The Business Office generates refund checks to students within 14 days as required by federal regulation. After the first round of disbursements is sent to the Business Office, aid for late applicants is disbursed on a weekly basis throughout the remainder of the semester/aid year. Which programs are adjusted?Pell Grant is normally adjusted according to the chart below with two exceptions. First, some students will be eligible for Pell Grant if enrolled less than half time. Second, students with high EFC numbers may not be eligible for Pell Grant if enrolled less than full time. ACG, VGAP and HETAP awards are for full-time students only and will be cancelled if you are not enrolled at full time. Work Study and Germanna Work Study awards are normally not adjusted based on enrollment level. Work Study and Germanna Work Study will be cancelled if you are not enrolled at least half time. PTAP (Part Time Tuition Assistance Program) awards are for students enrolled for 1 - 6 credits. This award will be cancelled for students who are not enrolled for 1 - 6 credits.
Receiving Your Financial Aid Grants
Receiving College Work-Study Funds
Receiving Alternative Loan Funds The GCC policy is that alternative loan recipients are responsible for paying their own tuition by the deferred tuition payment date or at the time of registration if the deferred tuition payment date has passed. Alternative loan checks are either sent to the college or directly to the student. Checks sent to the college will be endorsed and mailed to enrolled students when they arrive at the college. If your tuition has not been paid you must pay your tuition once you receive your check. You may make payment either in person or by using MyGCC.
