FINANCIAL AID

    Summer Financial Aid

Summer Financial Aid

In order to be eligible for summer financial aid, you will need to complete the 2008-2009 Summer Financial Aid Application and return it before the dates listed on the application.

Since the summer semester is the final term of the 2008-2009 financial aid aid year, you must have a 2008-2009 FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office in order to be eligible for summer financial aid. Check your personal records or contact the Financial Aid Office to make sure you have the correct FAFSA application on file.

Limited Aid Availability

Summer financial aid is usually limited to remaining Pell Grant only.  There is an additional grant program for the summer semester 2009 for students who are Pell Grant eligible but have no Pell Grant remaining and will enroll for at least 6 credits for summer 2009.  Funds are awarded on the basis of date of application until all funds have been exhausted.  Students who have used all of their Pell Grant during Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 should complete this application to be considered for the additional grant program. (If you received Pell Grant as a full-time student for the fall 2008 and spring 2009 semesters you will not have any remaining Pell Grant available for Summer 2009.)

Summer 2009 Financial Aid Process

  • If your summer financial aid application materials are received by April 1, 2009 , your application will be evaluated prior to the start of registration and you will be sent an award notice detailing your eligibility.
  • You will typically be awarded within a week or two of submitting your application. Unlike the fall and spring, your original summer award(s) will be based on the amount of credits that you indicate you plan to register for on the summer application.
  • If your financial aid eligibility is not sufficient to cover your entire balance due for tuition and fees, you must pay the remaining balance upon registering to avoid being dropped from your courses.
  • If you have sufficient aid to purchase books, bookstore charging will begin at the Bookstore on May 27, 2009, and end on June 12th, 2009 . You must be awarded prior to charging books. For more details on charging at Germanna's bookstore, click here.
  • If you are not meeting satisfactory academic progress (SAP) standards after Spring 2009 grades are posted, your financial aid awards will be canceled for the Summer 2009 term. You would then be notified of the need to pay the balance due on your student account to ensure that your course(s) would not be dropped.
