Summer Financial Aid

In order to be eligible for summer financial aid, you will need to complete the

2009-2010 Summer Financial Aid Application

and return it before the dates listed on the application.

Since the summer semester is the final term of the 2009-2010 financial aid year, you must have a 2009-2010 FAFSA on file with the Financial Aid Office in order to be eligible for summer financial aid. Check your personal records or contact the Financial Aid Office to make sure you have the correct FAFSA application on file.

Limited Aid Availability

Summer financial aid is usually limited to remaining Pell Grant only.  **New for 2010!!** Additional Pell Grant Eligibility: Students that have used 100% of their Pell Grant during Fall 2009 and Spring 2010, and attend at least 6 credits during summer semester will be considered for additional Pell Grant funding for summer semester 2010.

All State and local funds are awarded on the basis eligibility and of date of application and are available until funds have been exhausted.

Summer 2010 Financial Aid Process

  • If your summer financial aid application materials are received by April 1, 2010 , your application will be evaluated prior to the start of classes and you will be sent an award notice detailing your eligibility.
  • Summer financial aid awards will be posted on a weekly basis, beginning Friday, April 2, 2010. Unlike the fall and spring, your original summer award(s) will be based on the amount of credits that you indicate you plan to register for on the summer application.
  • If your financial aid eligibility is not sufficient to cover your entire balance due for tuition and fees, you must pay the remaining balance upon registering to avoid being dropped from your courses.
  • If you have sufficient aid to purchase books, bookstore charging will begin at the Bookstore on May 19, 2010, and end on June 21, 2010 . You must be awarded prior to charging books. For more details on charging at Germanna's bookstore, click here.
  • If you are not meeting satisfactory academic progress (SAP) standards after Spring 2010 grades are posted, your financial aid awards will be canceled for the Summer 2010 term. You would then be notified of the need to pay the balance due on your student account to ensure that your course(s) would not be dropped.
