What is Great Expectations?
Great Expectations is a program at Germanna Community College for previous/current area foster care individuals to help them with the transition from high school to college and/or a career. Great Expectations consists of a two-day on-campus program, as well as a six month mentorship program. Through this program, foster care youth gain information about the services of the college, participate in a mini-college experience, and receive one-on-one mentoring with a current student from Germanna Community College.

In addition to the on-campus portion of the program, participants will be mentored by a current Germanna Community College student for six months. Participants will have the opportunity to meet their mentor during the two-day on-campus program. The mentor and mentee maintain communication for the following six months through either supervised, on-campus visits, or by phone or email.

What do I receive for completing the program?

Great Expectations is a non-credit course. Upon completion of the program you will earn:   

    --Certificate of Completion

    --One Continuing Education Unit  

When is the Great Expectations Program Offered?
