The mission of the Germanna Community College Middle College Program is to provide a unique learning environment to help our students achieve their academic, career, and personal goals.

ABOUT MIDDLE COLLEGE

The Middle College Program is designed to meet the needs of people who are between 18-24 years old and have not graduated from high school.  The comprehensive goal of the program is to have the students complete the Middle College Program, enroll in a certificate or degree program at Germanna Community College, and enter the workforce.  Academically, the focus of the program is to help students prepare for the GED and earn college credit simultaneously.  Our small class setting provides a unique environment that engages the students in critical thinking and problem solving.  Every staff member serves as a mentor, advisor, and student advocate.

THE ENROLLMENT PROCESS

To be considered for enrollment into the Middle College Program, the applicant must meet the following critieria:

• 18-24 years old
• Non-graduate from high school
• Score 9.0 or higher on Middle College Placement Test (TABE)
• Complete Middle College application and essay
• Complete Germanna Community College application for admission
• Interview

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADAUTION

• Obtain a GED
• Earn a Career Readiness Certificate (Career Readiness Certificate Overview)
• Successfully complete the student development course
• Complete a community service project
• Pursue information on a certificate or degree program

*If all components are completed, Middle College graduates have the option of walking in the Germanna Community College's commencement in May.
