USER ACCOUNTS

At Germanna you are given access to Virginia Community College System Enterprise Applications. Use the table below for a listing of all applications available and the logon ID you should use when signing on. The link for each application directs you to more information about that specific Application.

VCCS USERNAME

Your VCCS Username is used to access myGCC, Blackboard, Library Resources (VIVA), and Webmail. As a new student you should remember to CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD; directions are below.

Find Your VCCS Username

1. In a web browser, https://gcc.my.vccs.edu/jsp/user.jsp#
2. Click "What is my username ".
3. Click "Lookup my username here "
4. Enter your First Name, Last Name, Birthdate (MMDDYY format) and Social Security Number (or emplid).
5. Click "Search".  Your Username, emplid, email and Institution will be displayed. If you haven't already done so, please write down your emplid and username to keep in a safe place.

Your Password

Your default password for GCC and VCCS Internet services, including Blackboard, SIS, VCCS student e-mail, and VIVA is your date of birth in six-digit format; that is, a two-digit month, two-digit day, and two-digit year.  For example, if your birthdate is January 1, 1980, your default password is 010180.

Do not share your username and password. Anyone with your username and password can access your personal information as you.

Changing Your Password

GCC recommends that you change your password as soon as possible. Your password should be a secret phrase that you don't share with anyone. Select a strong password that is easy for you to remember, but very difficult for someone else to guess. YOU SHOULD NOT USE ALL NUMBERS OR IT WILL CONTINUE TO ENFORCE YOU TO CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD.

1. In a web browser, go to https://gcc.my.vccs.edu/jsp/userconfig.jsp?action=reset
2. Enter your First Name, Last Name, Birthdate (MMDDYY format) and Social Security Number.
3. Click "Search".
4. Answer your security question
5. Enter your default password into "Password".
6. Select a new password and enter it into "Retype Password"
7. Set your security question (this can be left as is if you do not want to change it)
8. Click "Next"
9. You will receive confirmation that your password has been changed

EMPLID (Student ID)

Your EMPLID(we refer to this as your Student ID) is a number we use that uniquely identifies you, and is not your social security number. You can look it up using other identifying information. You will use your emplid (Student ID) when making requests in-person at Germanna.

Find Your VCCS Username

EMPLID Not Found

Your EMPLID should be created within 24 hours after your application for admission is processed.  If you don't find your EmplID, try again in 24 hours. If it is still not listed, contact the Admissions and Records office to verify that your information on record is correct.

Multiple EMPLIDs

If you have attended several Virginia community colleges, you may have been assigned more than one number.  Please contact Admissions and Records for assistance.
