FACILITIES MANAGEMENT
1.0
Purpose
The purpose of this policy is to reduce the fire
hazards and health risks associated with substandard wiring, specifically
extension cords.
2.0 Policy
2.1.
“EXTENSION CORDS” are not to be
used at Germanna Community College as “PERMANENT WIRING.” Instead of using an extension cord, three
options exist. First, move the
appliance/equipment closer to a building receptacle; second, have a new
receptacle installed near the new equipment; third, use a power strip with a
circuit breaker.
