Catherine Washington

Catherine Washington, a Math Lead and Middle School teacher for Stafford County Public Schools, has devoted her life to education.

The King George County native earned her bachelor’s degree in Middle School Education from Campbell University and a Master’s of Education (K-12 Administration) at George Mason University. Prior to teaching in Stafford, she served as an Outreach Trainer for the Department of the Army at Fort Carson, Colorado and a teacher for Prince William County Public Schools.

She has been a member of the Germanna Community College Board since 2009 and currently serves as the Vice-Chair.

Mrs. Washington sees Germanna as a model for the importance in having access to continuing education within a reasonable driving distance, with quality instruction at an affordable price.

“Germanna is a vital core component of our communities,” she says, “providing a link between learning in the classroom to job and career training in our local workforce. Through Germanna, our communities have access to the best investment available, the student. Our campuses and programs are designed with the students as the number one priority and our community business leaders as the local voice for workforce needs.”

She is married to U.S Army Col. Tom Washington, a colonel and has three children: Cassandra Philipson of Blacksburg, SPC Thomas Washington, a student at the University of Oregon and a member of the Oregon National Guard and Elizabeth Washington, a senior at Brooke Point High School, who plans to attend Bridgewater College. She attends Aquia Episcopal Church in Stafford.
