STUDENT MUST HAVE CURRENT (2013-2014) FAFSA ON FILE, BE ENROLLED IN AT LEAST 6 CREDITS, BE MEETING ALL SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS REQUIREMENTS AND HAVE A WORK-STUDY APPLICATION ON FILE BEFORE APPLYING.
The purpose of this position is to provide direct support to the Library Services Department and its overall contribution to the mission and vision of Germanna Community College.
Work-study student duties include but are not limited to: assist with general library circulation duties, stacks maintenance, providing patron assistance for technology related issues, and provides positive customer services to all Library patrons, Cover a public service desk, Shelf newly acquired and returned library materials in appropriate locations, Provide a staff presence and regulates appropriate noise levels in the Quiet Study Zone on the library’s 2nd floor during open hours, Student will also Participate in ongoing stacks maintenance projects including: Shelving library materials, Shifting library materials, Shelf reading, Performing stacks and library sweeps, Assist library patrons with online library catalog searching, Assists with computer, printer and copier troubleshooting issues, Assists with technology related issues including Blackboard, MS Office, MyGCC, and software related issues. Checks campus mail and delivers library items appropriately, Provides basic library information to library patrons as appropriate, Completes other assigned library related projects as assigned.
Required Skills & Qualifications: Demonstrated positive customer service experience. Ability to lift bins and push book carts weighing up to 30 pounds. Ability to lift and shelve books. Background or interest in libraries. Basic computer skills (Internet, MS Word and Excel, etc.)
Preferred Skills & Qualifications: Advanced computer skills (Internet, Blackboard, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, MatLab, etc). Previous library experience preferred but not required. For more information please contact Becky Morris: email@example.com
