Job Description

STUDENT MUST HAVE CURRENT (2013-2014) FAFSA ON FILE, BE ENROLLED IN AT LEAST 6 CREDITS, BE MEETING ALL SATISFACTORY ACADEMIC PROGRESS REQUIREMENTS AND HAVE A WORK-STUDY APPLICATION ON FILE BEFORE APPLYING.

The purpose of this position is to provide direct support to the Germanna College-wide Recruiting Office and its overall contribution to the mission and vision of Germanna Community College.

Work-study student should be a detailed oriented person with excellent organization skills and a strong background in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint as demonstrated by completion of ITE 115 with a 3.0 or higher. Knowledge of Outlook, iPhone Apps, and social media is a bonus. Maintaining a prospective student database will be an essential component of this position. This individual will be involved with numerous departments and assist in the procurement of promotional materials to be used in mailings and presentations. This person will be given a calendar coding project that will assist in the development of a Calendar of Recruiting Events which will be used to support recruiting and outreach. Additional projects may include: the opportunity to assist with developing guidelines and training tools for volunteers and work-studies in the recruiting area. If time permits and the candidate is interested, there is also the possibility of assisting with campus tours and high school visits. Ideal Candidate Characteristics: Responsible, Honest, individual with good communication skills, who has the ability to work independently, and adapt to changing priorities. When unsure of appropriate procedures, this person would be confident enough to seek out clarification or assistance from  designated staff members so that progress on assigned projects could continue. This student must like GCC, our students, and take pride in the work we do. A detailed oriented individual with good time management skills would be a valuable asset and greatly appreciated for their organizational skills.
