Frequently Asked Questions How do I schedule an appointment? Call us, email our FAC or LGC offices, or stop by Room 208 at FAC or LGC; we will be happy to schedule an appointment for you. What if I can’t make it to one of your scheduled workshops? Don't worry; if you can't make it to a workshop, it won't be held against you even if you are signed up to attend. You can sign up for another workshop session, or schedule a one-on-one tutoring session to cover the material. How long do tutoring appointments last? Tutoring appointments are scheduled to start on the hour, and last forty-five minutes. (The final fifteen minutes are reserved for wrap-up, scheduling appointments, and other administrative tasks.) Who are your tutors? Nearly all of our students are current or former Germanna students. We have a page listing which subjects our tutors cover here. Will you discuss the tutoring session with my instructor? Not without your written permission; our tutoring sessions are completely confidential. We have a saying that we're a little like Vegas in that respect: "What happens in Tutoring, stays in Tutoring!" That said, if you fill out an information-release form, we can provide you with a signed note to let your instructor know that you attended a Tutoring session. (Some instructors give extra credit for attending Tutoring appointments.) Can I just walk in to your office to see a tutor? If a tutor is available to help, he or she will certainly be glad to assist you. However, our tutors are in high demand, and we can't always guarantee that a walk-in appointment will be available. We will be happy to schedule an appointment for you up to two weeks in advance, to ensure that we have a tutor available to help you.
