Russell James, GCAT Director
The Center for Workforce and Community Education is pleased to announce that Russell James has been appointed Director of Germanna's Center for Advanced Technology (GCAT) in Culpeper.
Mr. James comes to GCAT after thirty years in business and industry. During his career, Mr. James worked for several firms in senior sales and business development positions. Additionally, he created and ran his own sales agency for nine years.
He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University and a Master in Business Administration from Lynchburg College.He and his wife, Brenda Tanner, reside in Madison County. He has one daughter and one granddaughter.

Welcome to Terremark Worldwide Operations
January 18 was a very special day among many very special days at the Germanna Center for Advanced Technology. Governor Tim Kaine made arrangements to personally welcome Manuel Medina, Chairman and CEO of Terremark, future neighbor of the Center for Technology.
More than 300 people were present to welcome Terremark to the community. the Miami-based company will invest $270 million in the next five to seven years to open a data center on a 30-acre site next to GCAT.
Thanks go to Dianne Condon, GCAT event planner, and all the rest of the GCAT staff for staging such a spectacular event. To date, the college has hosted more than 12,000 people for a wide variety of events and meetings.

The Germanna Center for Advanced Technology provides educational and training services to communities surrounding the U.S. 29 "technology corridor." The technology facility is a two-story, 40,000 square-foot facility designed to provide maximum flexibility in serving educational, training, business and community needs.
GCAT offers a wide array of services to Culpeper and its surrounding counties of Orange, Madison and Spotsylvania.
- Testing Services - GCAT now offers a variety of testing services for certification and credentialing.
We offer a secure, quiet and controlled testing center environment for administering Microsoft Specialist exams and high tech certification tests from Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, and many more through Pearson VUE testing.
NOTE: Placements test for Germanna's credit programs are offered seperately. Contact the counseling office for more details about placement testing at GCAT.
- Classrooms - state-of-the-art facilities to support programs ranging from basic skills education to high technology and post-employment training needs.
- Manufacturing technology area - the hub for customized training in operations and maintenance skills required by regional industries.
- Multi-purpose auditorium - a flexible, multi-media performance area that can be reconfigured for conferences, trade shows, banquets, and other events.
- Information Resource Center - a virtual library with multi-media resources.
- Executive Training / Conference Room - a center equipped with state-of-the-art technology resources to support professional and continuing education seminars, or business and community meetings.
