The Germanna Community College Educational Foundation set a record Saturday night by raising $313,000 for scholarships with its 24th annual Scholarship Monte Carlo Night at GCC’s Daniel Center in Culpeper.

Germanna President Janet Gullickson thanked a packed house at the event, saying that a mere $500 can mean the difference between a student having to drop out of college or remain. She also thanked Germanna  supporters Joe and Linda Daniel of Culpeper for being the driving force behind the event for years.

Special Assistant to the President for Advancement Bruce L. Davis, who directs the foundation, thanked sponsors, saying “through their generosity, hundreds of students facing financial barriers that can end the completion of an education will be helped to stay in school to successful completion, becoming valued employers and employees in our communities.” He also thanked the event organizing committee, the Germanna Educational Foundation Board of Directors, and Germanna faculty and staff volunteers.
