The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) may be filed starting in October for the academic year that starts in the following fall. The FAFSA must be filed each year.

Germanna’s school code (008660) must be entered on the FAFSA in order for Germanna to receive the FAFSA results. The deadline for filing the FAFSA for the 2018-2019 academic year is June 30.

  • Priority application date

    Priority application date

The priority application date for Germanna is April 1 of each year. This is a critical date, as it gives students the opportunity to reserve courses with much-needed financial assistance before the published tuition due date(s), as well as giving the Financial Aid Office enough time to process available federal, state, and institutional awards for eligible students.

Your financial aid application must be complete at least three weeks before the date that tuition is due. Complete means that Germanna must have received the results of your FAFSA, you must be admitted to the college, placed in an eligible program, enrolled in financial aid eligible courses (financial aid course audit), and all documentation must be received.

Meeting the April 1 date does not guarantee that the student will receive an award.

Eligible applications received after the priority filing date may be awarded additional state and/or institutional  funds as they are made available to the College.
