Spring classes start January 13

Placement Testing

The best way to prepare for college is to develop strong foundations in math and English. Math, reading and writing skills are the building blocks for successful learning and understanding in all academic areas. Updated math and English requirements better prepare GCC students for higher education and an increasingly competitive job market. Assessment of skill level is mandatory for all new students. Test results are used to determine which classes you are eligible to take: you cannot fail these tests.

Placement tests at the Fredericksburg and Locust Grove Testing Centers do not require appointments.

ESL placement tests must be started 3 hours prior to closing.

Virginia placement tests for English or Math must be started 3 hours prior to closing.

All tests require a current photo ID and a Student ID number. Acceptable forms of ID include driver’s license, Germanna Community College student id, passport, personal ID from the DMV, military ID or green card. Learn more by reviewing testing procedures.
